I'm Nancy Gavin and I have always felt a special kinship with animals, especially cats. My professional career started in the corporate world where I worked as a desktop publisher for a number of years. After earning a Master's in Education from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and a Master's in Church Ministries from the Ecumenical Institute of Theology, St. Mary's Seminary, I was called to work in the nonprofit world. Over the course of seventeen years, I worked as Director of Education, Director of Parish Ministries and Executive Director of a food pantry. Following my life path to serve cats, I am sole proprietor of Cat Caterer petsitting and co-founder and president of the board of Laps and Naps Home for Senior Cats, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
In addition to caring for animals, I love gardening organically, camping, hiking and reading. I have been growing catnip for my own cats for many years and I now share homegrown, organic catnip with my kitty clients! Since moving to this area, I am starting to grow and use herbs medicinally and foraging for wild foods on my property and in the surrounding woods.
In Maryland, I practiced horticultural therapy with the elderly and started a gardening club in an assisted living facility. I have served as a Stephen Leader, as a Hospice companion and worked exclusively with cats for animal rescue organizations in both Maryland and North Carolina. My life is fulfilled through service to others, both the two-legged and four-legged!
